EF #5 I am Lucky to Have Found BEC

What? Friday already?

Okay. Friday is here, so let’s just move to what BEC weekly theme has for us:

Please share what is BEC for you?

BEC, to me, is a new family.

Like any club I knew, this club has offered allowed me to meet new people with their different colors backgrounds but with the same need: practicing English. More than that, it’s like this club popped out up when I hope I could exercise my English in writing. A coincidence? Well.

English itself, has been is a language that was is pretty easy for me to follow. I don’t mean to brag, not at all. I remember when I was in elementary school I listened listening to Backstreet Boys songs  I catch up I could catch the lyrics quite fast. Although I don’t really know what they mean but my tongue just followed the accent. How it they were spelled.

Back when I was in my middle school, I am the youngest to take part in one of Nurul Fikri English Course (NEC) classes. That time, kids my age didn’t really go to English class outside from what school has for us. Unfortunately, I stopped taking English course due to financial and priority issue.

Since then, I am having English lessons only from school. It is not enough, of course. I realized that but I can’t help it and my family didn’t force me to prioritize English either, so I just let it. I don’t bother myself to study English harder anymore.

Years passed, and though I knew I am capable of reading books in English, I’ve never really done that. I still read English text-book, which was unavoidable, but never for fun until two years ago I started reading English novel. At first, I brave myself to read a young adult novel that’s written in English. I still remember its title, Epic Fail and guess what? I understand it well enough. I mean, it’s actually not as hard as I imagine it will be.

It is not hard to understand English, but to use English actively, that’s a different case.

You must ask, what’s the relation?

Well, since I have a book blog and reading books in English frequently, my circle in blogging has gotten wider than before. I mean, I read online websites with English articles now. I followed International book bloggers. Then it comes to me that to be ‘just follower’ and silent reader is not enough. It’s not ‘okay’. I need to join them in conversation. I need to be able to share my thoughts (of books and anything else) in a language they’ll understand.

It’s a personal resolution of mine for 2015. In the times of me figuring out how to make it happen, BEC just popped up (like I said in the opening). So I grabbed the opportunity  and hop in.

Voilà. I became BEC member and I’m proud of that.

So, thank you (again) for the three people and another two cool admins behind this awesome club. Thanks to the mentors, too, of course. It’s really nice to be a part of this progressive learners club.

I’m sorry if I’m not active enough in our chats group. It’s easier to talk in one way –like writing this blog post. It takes time to master English, is it not? And from now on, I’m going to use every lessons I have from BEC Learning chats group and from my own observation carefully. Just watch and see, will you? Not only that, if you don’t mind, please remind me of every mistake I took. Correct me, if you could and you’re willing to.

Last but not least, I hope BEC could be big and accommodating many people who seeks for better English ability.
